INFORSE-Europe Sustainable Energy NGO Seminar in Denmark
 August 17-19/20, 2026
August 20, 2026 INFORSE-Europe General Meeting

• August 17-19 /-20, 2026 (in Denmark & partially online)

European Sustainable Energy Seminar (17-19/8) together with General Meeting (20/8).
Venue: Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy, Ydby, Thy, Denmark.

This seminar will get together civil society organisations and other actors to discuss:
• How we speed up the transition away from fossil fuels and move to sustainable energy.
• Highlights of the European Transition, Barriers, and Key Elements of the Transition including:
_ > Policies for Sufficiency as Climate Policies, > Local Energy Communities,
_ > Nuclear Power problems and its derailing of the transition, > Hydrogen Futures, > Biomass and its pollution
• Highlight a new training program Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY), trying out selected training modules.
• Guided Tour to see the Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy
• Study Tour to new, sustainable energy developments in Western Denmark.

The Seminar is organised by INFORSE-Europe and partners of the project: Sufficiency as Climate Action (*) financially supported by Nordic Council of Ministers. The Seminar also presents and tests the training methods of the Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY) Project (**) financially supported by EU Erasmus+ Program.

After the Seminar, INFORSE-Europe has its General Meeting on 20 August 2026, and there is additional study tour possibility (not part of seminar).

Sun. 16/8 -Arrival to Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy

Mon. 17/8 -9.00 - 17.00

• Opening of seminar, Presentation of Participants and the Program

• European climate and energy transition, energy futures, the role of hydrogen and other new developments.
- Presentations by Gunnar Boye Olesen, INFORSE-Europe and repr. (tbc), CAN-Europe

• Energy sufficiency, its role in the energy transition and road to climate neutrality, international experiences.
- Presentations by Yves Marignac, negaWatt, France and Toke Haunstrup Christensen, Aalborg University.

• Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY) training methods. Intro & Test: 'Try the Energy'
- Experiments with Solar, Wind, Metering and Cooking with the Sun

• Guided Tour at the Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy

• Policies for Sufficiency as Climate Policies
- Presentations of sufficiency policies and proposals from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia.
- by Nordic-Baltic “Sufficiency as Climate Action” project partners, FoE Norway, Swedish Society for Nature Conservation,
- Estonian & Latvian Green Movement, INFORSE-Europe. (see Sufficiency as Climate Action Project)
- Summary conclusions on how to integrate sufficiency policies in climate policies and the effects.
- Dialogue in groups on how to have sufficiency policies on the climate agenda and the results we can expect.
- Conclusions in plenary based in group work.

• Evening program. Participants are invited to present an issue they want to discuss or an interesting activity they are engaged in.
- Informal social activity / ELY ‘Climate Board Game’.

• Study Tour (with bus) including:
-- Small heating plant with large heat pump
-- Thyborøn the world’s largest co-operatively owned windmill
-- Harboøre. Wastewater sludge biochar production and Lemvig water treatment plant
-- Ramme energy park with hydrogen and ammonia
-- Lemvig Klimatorium

• Energy communities and their roles in a just transition. Good examples, barriers, next steps on EU-level.
- Presentations by Henning Bo Madsen, Gunnar Boye Olesen, VE & INFORSE-Europe and RESCOOP repr. (tbc), Dialogue.
- ELY: ’Build Your Own Energy Community’ (LEGO)

• Evening program, participants are invited to present an issue they want to discuss or an interesting activity they are engaged in.

• Energy Transition and Nuclear Power Plans and Problems.

• Biomass Use and its Air Pollution.
- Presentation by Henning Bo Madsen or other (tbc), Gunnar Boye Olesen on EU ecodesign regulations and its limits, dialogue.

• Test of the ELY training module: 'Silent Discussion'

• Future Activities: Brain storm and ELY 'Mapping'.
- Dashboard of future activities, selection of future work and priorities.
- Group work on proposed future activities and priorities.
- Plenary on priorities for coming activities, who will engage, and agreements

Thu. 20/8, 10.00 - 13.00 INFORSE-Europe General Meeting (also online)
FROM 14.00: Optional Program (not part of the Seminar)
Departure for offshore windmill test center Osterild by Thisted.
(Alternative Hvide Sande Heating System with solar, windpower, heat pumps, storage etc.)
Logistics:
The seminar will take place at Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy,
Address: Kammersgaardsvej 16, Ydby, 7760 Hurup, Thy, Denmark. (Some sessions will also be online.)
The Folkecenter is near to Ydby train station. There are trains to Ydby from Copenhagen and other cities, with change of trains in Struer. There will be pickup organised at the Ydby train station. Nearest airports are Billund and Aalborg or Copenhagen.

Prices:
Participation including program, food and accommodation (in double rooms): 335 ˆ per person
Participation in single rooms: 500 ˆ per person
Participation with accommodation in own tent: 175 ˆ per person
Support a participation of a person, who need support.
Limited support for INFORSE-Europe members for participation and travel.
