Energy and Climate - FAE-
INFORSE-Europe Seminar
Organised by Foundation for Alternative Energy (FAE) at Commenius University,
Bratislava, Slovakia.
Seminar was aimed
at to present EU energy policies and outcomes of the UN Climate Change
conference (COP 16) in Cancun. Energy and climate change
issues were discussed from the perspective of their impact on Slovak legislation,
economy and energy sector. The audience consisted from University staff,
students and NGOs.
There were two presentations made by Mr. Emil Bedi (INFORSE-Europe Coordinator):
1. Climate Change - Outcomes of UN conference (COP 16) and the future of
Kyoto Protocol. Presentation of EU and Slovak positions and financial
mechanisms (emission trading) and their relevance after the year 2012.
2. Renewable Energy Sources. Recent EU and energy policies were presented
with the INFORSE Europe positions . Impacts of EU energy policies on Slovak
energy sector and economy together with financial support for the RE (EU
Structural funds, feed-in tariffs) were at the focus of the discussion.
The project "Bioenergia Bystricko", which serves as the successful case
of implementation of EU Structural Funds in Slovakia was also highlighted.
One of the
outcomes of the seminar was the agreement that the Ph.D. students of
the Department of Landscape Ecology
of Commenius University will
join INFORSE-Europe / FAE projects next year.
