Raising awareness is the first
step to invoke change. One way of increasing the visibility of an
issue is through the use of popular
campaigns. In the two following examples, and in several other,
different campaigns, NGOs have used their outreach capabilities to make people
aware of simple, practical measures that could save communities as well as
individuals both energy and money. Throughout
Central and Eastern Europe, such campaigns and many other activities have
contributed to increased understanding of end-use
energy efficiency, but much remains to be done.
