After the straw-bale
technology adaptation in Belarus (1996) and applying of BD IAE to the Government
of Belarus (1997), the experimental state program of economical homestead dwelling
building with renewable natural materials has been developed. The interested designing
institutions were attracted to the designing, in particular, the Gomelselstroiproekt,
who has designed a country house with 112 m2 in area.
The house has been constructed in the village Mikhedovichi, Gomel area, with the use of the modified straw-bale technology in a few weeks. Comparison to the modern technologies shows that such house saves:
 labour costs and construction terms — to 3-4 times;
energy capacity and cost of major building materials — to 80-100 times;
energy for house heating — to 3-4 times.
Sceptical attitude to this technology caused by use of straw is changing to the
rather growing interest from both investors and individual builders. For the widespread
application of the technology special building companies should be created as
the ordinary contractors are not interested in a cheap individual dwelling. In
1998 near 40 SB houses were constracted in Gomel and Mogilev region in summer
and winter time. |
